The Directive on work-life balance

In our project CCJ we have discussed, interviewed and collected data from over 1000 professionals actively working in corrections at different levels, from over 15 countries in Europe and internationally. Our investigations were related to career management, what support mechanisms are needed in order to manage one’s professional pathway, and the overall correctional working context in which lifelong learning can happen. One of the pillars supporting the careers of our professionals is their relation with the family and close community. Without a balanced approach to this relation, it is close to impossible to proactively design a progression to the career pathway. The Directive on work-life balance, entering in full force as of today, aims to both increase the participation of women in the labour market and the take-up of family-related leave and flexible working arrangements. This is an essential support for our correctional professionals and we fully support it.
